Year 9 Unit 2 - The Russian Revolution

 

The second unit of Year 9 history explores one of the key repercussions of the First World War, namely the Russian Revolution. Students will start by investigating why Russia had a revolution and why the country turned to Communism.

 

This will lead into an in-depth case study of how Stalin took control, exploring the events in the immediate aftermath of Lenin's death and the Kirov assassination.

 

Finally, students will conclude this unit by exploring the lives of everyday Russians under Stalin's rule- a wide range of historians interpretations will be investigated along with testimonies from those who were directly impacted by his leadership.

 

Students will sit an end of unit examination.
