Year 8 Unit 3 - Crime in the Industrial Period
Through a case study of the Jack the Ripper murders, students will explore life in East End London during the 19th Century. In this unit students will start by considering class division, reasons for criminal activity and the position of authority during this period.
This will lead into an investigation as to the reasons why Jack the Ripper was never caught. Was it the fault of the police? Was it his shrewdness as a criminal? Or was it a lack of technology allowing him to escape?
Year 8 will conclude with an end of year exam.
