Year 9 Unit 1 - The First World War
The first unit of Year 9 history investigates World War One, 1914-1918. Students will start by investigating the causes of the war, and seek to prioritise the factor they believe was the most important in causing the conflict.
This will lead into an in-depth case study of a Feltham regiments experiences in the First World War, and in particular, their experiences at the Battle of Passchendaele.
Students will conclude the unit by exploring the views of various historians on the subject- ranging from Max Hasting's 'The necessary war' interpretation, to Niall Ferguson's work entitled 'The Pity of War.'
Students will sit an end of unit examination.
